Meet Amber...

the wife of one of Art's colleagues that has become a really good friend.
This is an article on her from a couple of weeks ago in one of the Graz papers. Yes, she's a professional cyclist...formerly in America for an American team..now in Graz for the Kuota Speed Kueens.

I gave you a glimpse of her blog here.

We try to grab coffee at least once a week and we chat, chat, chat. Besides the fact that I do the elliptical a couple of times per week on low resistance at Fit Inn and she powers through Hungary, Qatar and the likes with her bod that's a Fit Inn, we do seem to have a lot in common.

Our lives as very recent American wives of engineering geeks trying to make a little home and life in Graz run quite parallel. It's SO NICE to have someone that understands. Someone that wanted to punch the cold, mizzy winter more than me (because she had to train it it), someone trying to learn this crazy language too (through immersion on her team of Austrian natives..she's learning dialect!), someone else trying to cook without all available ingredients, manage the supermarkets, horrendous prices, the occasional feeling of isolation and the like.

Sometimes you just need a little 'girl time' and I'm lucky to call this Speed Kueen friend.

Oh, and she and David got married in Paris at the Rodin Sculpture Garden last year. Sehr schön.

I was googling something about bikes and Graz and her name came up. I didn't realize she lived in Graz! Very cool that you've become friends! Beautiful wedding pic. Looks like a photo right out of a magazine! Hope your friends/relatives are enjoying their visit despite the crappy wet weather!

Thanks for the post. I've been trying to find female cycling teams in europe to follow. Lucky you get to be friends with a professional :D
