Pardon Our Maintenance

One day I will get this blog printed into a book and it will be my keepsake for our time here in Graz. So, please excuse me while I upload the rest of my 'fam visiting' photos for my own memories.

{I have looked into various options and have decided that I can't just have it all printed out willy-nilly with no intruding on my part to spiff the pages and design up. I just can't relinquish that kinda control. This means it will take 100x longer and I may never get to it. I do not really like these kinds of projects, surprisingly. Have I done my wedding album yet? Nein. Will my life end in shambles without a matte finish premium image wrap covered album of love on my coffee table? Probably. Better get to it.}

{One more thing: thinking about using Blurb. Anyone used it? I downloaded the "book making" software and it is not so wondey.}

I am looking into getting my blog printed since we are coming up on being here one year. I had looked at blog2print, but I don't think it's spectacular. I agree with you that I want it to look really nice, yet I don't know if I have the creativity/patience to do that. I am very interested in what you come across that is good!

I've used blurb but only to make a really simple photobook (nothing with words or fancy layouts). I've heard that if you want to get fancy you're better off using a program like Adobe InDesign, designing the pages there, and then uploading them as full page layouts to blurb which sounds... tricky.

I've heard wonderful things about Mpix but they are PRICEY. If you're a mac person, those iPhoto books have gotten decent reviews too.

I just randomly came across your blog, and have been having fun looking through your adventures! What a wonderful opportunity to live abroad!
I don't know if you're a designer, but as someone mentioned, you could create your layout in InDesign or Quark, save it as a pdf file, and just upload it. I am a design director, and, of course, have not done my own wedding album (yet) or baby book for my son...because it DOES take so much time, and the closer to your heart, the more difficult is to do! Good luck!

II was getting sad that we wouldn't be featured in your blog anymore! I'm glad we have reappeared!

I have been reliving Graz through your blog and loving every minute of it! My dad is from Graz and I have been many times visiting "die Familie". It is a beautiful, intimate city and I tell everyone who goes to Austria, they must see Graz too. Thanks for letting me see it "real" time. Can't wait to go back again!

Hi Monika. I agree...people must see Graz too! I'm trying to fix that! :)

Hey C,

I'm going to do the same thing when we leave Germany, and I'll probably use Blurb for the convenience of it. I'll let you know how it goes!
